Due to the impact of the war, the development of the solar energy industry in Ukraine is currently limited. This has already resulted in more than 1GW of lost capacity, and PV development has been suspended in some regions. Despite the current stagnation, some trade bodies have called for Ukraine's subsequent economic recovery to be dominated by renewable energy, with a goal of reaching 50% of electricity generation by 2030.
Artem Semenyshyn, CEO of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (ASEU), said that in order to promote the residential solar development, their goal is to build one million solar roofs across Ukraine, which he hopes will be achieved by 2030. It is expected to play a major role in replacing coal power generation.
