With the influence of Covid-19, the photovoltaic market around the world has been depressed for several months. Many countries have taken different steps to deal with it. Switzerland government has provided an additional CHF376 million to improve the situation and try to stimulate market demand for solar energy.
Switzerland’s Federal Office of Energy has allocated an additional 46 million Swiss Francs($47.5 million) for residential and commercial rooftop solar subsidy schemes.
The Federal Office of Energy also said that, although applications for the incentive increased significantly in the first quarter, demand is now actually falling back due to the Covid-19. The government said that the extra appropriation has been already provided to try to stimulate market demand.
The extra cash will expand the rebate budge to CHF376 million, which is from the taxes paid by electricity consumers to fund the development of renewable energy. “At present, the fund is liquid enough to allow this special measure,” said the Federal Office of Energy.
Because of the Covid-19, many global solar-power producers and developers have faced the severe challenge of project suspension, which to an extant brings negative influence on worldwide economic development. How to deal with this problem and improve the market demand in the field of solar energy is what the global governments need to consider urgently.
