The three-day online conference on renewable and clean energy will kick off at the Middle East Energy Conference in Dubai on May 17. Renewable energy and clean energy will be unveiled as the theme of the first online exhibition of Middle East Energy. Research by Informa Markets shows that in the next 20 years, the entire Middle East and North Africa region plans to plan 83 GW of renewable energy and clean energy production capacity, mainly Solar and wind energy.
Through auction procedures, favorable financing conditions, and declining technology costs, the Middle East will become a market leader in renewable and clean energy, all of which will help bring renewable energy into the mainstream.
In the Gulf Cooperation Council, thanks to a strong development channel, the UAE is still a leader in the energy transition. These include the 2GW Al Dhafra solar power project located in Abu Dhabi, which will eventually power 160,000 homes; and the 1.5GW PV3 project also located in the UAE.
In Dubai, the fourth and fifth phases of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) solar facility are under development. Once completed, the MBR Solar Park will become the world's largest single-site solar installation. When it is fully operational in 2030, the planned total capacity will reach 5GW.
Claudia Konieczna, director of the Middle East Energy Exhibition, said: "We expect that in the next five years, renewable energy and clean energy will account for 34% of the total investment in the power sector of the entire Mena region."
